BYSI sends out a semi-monthly e-newsletter to over 750 people highlighting events and points of interest in the youth sports network - grant opportunities, job postings, program highlights. This e-newsletter- designed to be the major public method of communication between the BYSI and the programs, providers, supporters, funders and intermediaries that make up youth sports in Boston-keeps the members of the network current and knowledgeable about the many events going on in the city.
How does the BYSI newsletter and website build networks that support scale, quality and sustainability?
- Exposure and Awareness
There are 750 subscribers to the newsletter representing Funders, youth sports leaders, intermediaries, schools, colleges, advocacy organizations, health providers, community development organizations, network collaboratives and many others. The website averages hundreds of unique visitors and thousands page views every month.
- Improving Quality through Education and Resources
The Research section of the website offers visitors 225 references on timely research in the youth sports world, covering assessment and outcomes, youth development, health and fitness, girls and women, disabilities in sports, and after school. Monthly newsletter articles and links highlight local and national resources in everything from coaches training and facilities information to volunteer and management support. Dozens of trainings and events are advertised and updated daily- many of them with support and scholarships from the BYSI.
- Local, National and International Network Building
Newsletter readers and website visitors are not only from Boston- in fact almost half are from outside of Massachusetts. They hail from all over the United States and the world- everywhere from California and Texas to Japan, Singapore, Australia, Ireland, the UK and China. On the website and newsletter they can learn more about network development tools and networking in action supporting youth development through sports- in Boston and all over the globe.
- Supporting Sustainability
The youth sports funding database lists more than 150 active grant, funding and sponsorship opportunities, making it the largest and most comprehensive funding directory of its kind. Highlighted Funder profiles and new grants listed in the newsletter are seen by thousands, giving programs more options to diversify their funding base and become more connected to the funding community. Program profiles allow potential funders and supporters to learn more about the great work being done by the organizations they care about. |
